Opinion on 16channel system, seasoned members help please

Recommended Posts

Dahua is a brand that has come up on several occasions. Is it a re-branded item like competitors? Are they user friendly?

do they have atleast any of these features in a unit?

- 16 channel

- 30fps

- hi-res (d1 or similar)

- offsite monitoring

- cellphone login access

- ptz

- HD is def. not an issue because you mentioned you fit 12tb in a standalone.

It is the true manufacturer, and is resold by many other brands.

If you want a Dahua DVR on this side of the globe typically you buy it under one of the other brand names.

This is the Realtime D1 (4CIF really) model normally sold in the US

http://www.dahuasecurity.com/product_det.aspx?ID=677&p=cpyzc&p_kind=3&c_kind=262&c_kind2=&c_kind3=

The 2U units fit up to 8 SATA Drives (2TB each at this time), normally they are sold with a DVDRW taking up 2 spots, though it can be replaced with HDDs easily.

They also have this new model but not sure when it will be available from resellers

24TB internal, 12TB using eSata, 960×576 pixels (for Effio cameras)

Divide by 6 months, then double the results (15->30fps)... or about 1/3 the results he got there. Estimating an average of his 16-20TB result, which would be 18TB, you'd be looking at around 6TB.

Do keep in mind that there's almost no visible difference between 15fps and 30fps unless you're dealing with fast-moving objects - see here for examples: http://www.panasonic.com/business/security/demos/PSS-recording-rates.html

Thanks for letting me know what id be looking at in size of TB's.

Re: 15 to 30fps, I've never seen a system running in 15fps to know that there isn't visible difference. Seeing a comparison really did help, which also helps me with my final selection.

the NEW range of Dahua is now at the top of the scale. not many standalones with the new dahua spec for the price. Full D1 30fps on all cameras. pc and mac viewing

it is available in USA but under the qvis name. 14TB gives you realtime 30 days recording. but as most use motion as the norm setting 14TB will see you over 45/50 days footage. if you need more you can also add the new dahua storage box (plug and play in all new dahua) in 4-8 and 12TB

No they dont have that DVR yet according to the site and the one in the link above is not it either, this is the one I was talking about:

http://www.dahuasecurity.com/product_det.aspx?ID=903&p=cpyzc&p_kind=3&c_kind=262&c_kind2=&c_kind3=

24TB internal(3TB each drive), and additional 12TB using eSata.

960 pixels X ... its beyond D1, made for the Effio 960H chips.

May be a while before it reaches the US and probably not cheap.

The one you linked to is the regular Full D1 unit with a blue ray installed instead of a Dvdrw, neither of which i ever use anyway. in fact with that one, just remove the blue ray or dvdrw and have room for 8 HDDs which is 16TB. I havent found a client with a blank DVD in years now, and never even seen a blueray drive or disk on this island, its all USB and network backup now. One client buys 2GB disposable jump drives for under $5 each in the US and just gives those to the cops.

The Full D1 unit is all most need anyway, unless one really wants the extra space or has 960H cameras.

Very interested in the DH-DVR0404/0804/1604HF-S-E. Am wondering if this is going to be a new market trend with all these ridiculously high TV Line cameras coming out that cannot be fully utilized with regular DVR's. I just wonder if its really gonna be much of a noticeable difference?
