Aventura Technologies software and DVR

Recommended Posts

I would like to know if someone else is having problems with Aventure Technologies software for the H264 DVR card. The software is limited with documentation and being a newbie to the CCTV world could use some help.

The software appears to be flaky on startup. Sometimes it display control buttons other times it doesn't. Sometimes it reboots itself for no reason. Also not sure how to use the sensors correctly since the instructions are slim.

I think they have a good product but if I can't use the software it's kind of a waste of money.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Funny. Just got a new contract with a client that has their system installed, and he was ready to literally throw it out the window of his house.

We'll the compression is great, but the tech help hasn't responded to my verbal abuse with documentation in the last two weeks. I do software QA and this product would never get close to production.

It's not web base but looks like it was build with VB scripting.

if you PM me and can email me a copy of the PDF, software, or something, I may be able to help. I think Chance-i are the cards they use, or at least we had a huge discussion on that a year or so ago

Hi Rory,

The card was purchased via HikVision out of NY. The software is windows based with server and client. I'm not going to install the client until the server side gets more stable.

I'll look at the chance-I web site to see if something clicks.

Thanks,

Dan

That is partly true. They used to get boards from us in the past. Now they are getting them from someplace else.

Chance I doesnt make a h.264 compression card, or im not aware of it. Aventura uses Hikvision h.264 cards. i've tested the embedded unit from them and the card does D1 at 30fps/channel very well but the interface on the embedded was not that user friendly, they are continuing to develop the pc based system

i use the mpeg4 hardware compression card from chance I with a software version that i believe is the best midrange(not able to do 30fps/channel at 704x480), stable system on the market... i am now looking for a comparable highend system for my casino clients

I have had experience with Aventura since September last year (2005) as per the original poster. Yes when I first got the very first card a 8 cam Full D1 it was very flaky driver wise reboots odd problems etc but at the time did go with the Commercial version and not the Professional version. At the time I did recieve both the Professional and Commercial version and by far the Commercial version was very much less buggy than the Professional. Now heres the But, the drivers have matured very well and I can say that the Original machine and now 2 extra machines with 4 cam D1 cards record 7 days a week without hitches this is with NO reboots motion detection 24 hrs a day.

With these cards doing all the horse work besides writes to hard disk are up and coming stars the qualty of the captures even at medium compression is very good the only caveats being you have to use the player from aventura and use a ftp server so the remote user can download the recorded files but those are the only minor annoyance's I have with the 3 systems. Put it this way the customer is well chuffed (Happy) even after all the heartache and lost hours mine and the customers in the first place last September with the reboots etc. I also work with Geovision but for the same price Point I would now on a high end CCTV system point them towards Aventura in fact it is now my Premium system.

Hope this sheds light on a growing and emerging technology.

Regards

Keith

** I have no connection to Aventura besides purchasing there Wares.
