AVTech CPD505 - Backup after power outage, how?

Hello,

 

I really need help. I have an 8-channel AVTech CPD-505. My house got broken in; they stole a lot of my belongings. They then went and shutdown all power to the house from the electrical panel. When I got home I turned back on all power to the house. A few hours later I looked into the CPD505 DVR, it got reset to Feb 2000. I can only see Data that was recorded after the power was turn back on. I do not see any data before the power shut down. I am trying to backup the day of break in, I get the error "no data".

 

But my poor dog, they feed my dog something and got him really sick.

 

Thank goodness no one else got hurt.

 

Please anyone out there can provide me some info on how to retrieve the data.

Hi some avtech units are time/date reliant. try and reset your time and date back to normal before you go back into your footage.

I really appreciate your reply. I have set it back to the current date. But still no footage for the date of the burglary. I still get "no data" error.

Sounds like some above-average thieves. Do you knwo for a fact that they shut off the power after they cleaned out? I would think they would have done it before.

 

A tip for the future - please by a UPS (uninterruptable power supply), and use it to solely power your DVR and cameras. I have UPS's on all of my equipment to protect against this exact scenario. An average UPS will run most DVRs+cameras for a couple hours (assuming ~140W load or less).

 

Also, how were they able to shut off the utility power? You must have a disconnect upstream from your main breaker? Or is your breaker panel outside? I would place a lock on the disconnect and/or panel. As long as you own it there should not be a problem doing this. Also, if you have exposed communication lines (phone), you need to protect those as well - (so alarms can call-out).

 

For now I would set it to not record any more - or else it will eventually overwrite the video of the break-in. I'm sure the data is still there, its just a matter of getting it! I am clueless on what to do for this - maybe you should contact AVTech?

 

BTW how is the dog? Feeling better I hope.

Thanks for the reply. My dog is doing better after the vets visit and thanks for the tip on the UPS. My breaker is located in the gargage that is attached to the house. I had to turn the breaker back ON when I got home and notice there were no electricity what so ever. Other circuit switch were turned Off as well, other than the main switch. I would say these guys are pros.

 

I tried contact info or support on AVtech's website. The website referred me back to this forum for answers to any questions.

if you have not override the disk....

I remember there is a software that can read raw data of the Avtech HDD.

someone did mention it in the forum long time ago.

what ever you do... do not try to connect the disk into a computer yet.

windows will change the partition which render everything useless

Leohuangdi posted this program, I have tried it, unplug your hard drive from the DVR, install the hard drive to a windows PC, install the program, then we can read the data/video from the HD.

But I have problem here, I can see the data, but most data cannot be played.
