rodr 0 Posted August 16, 2011 Hi I have a Samsung dvr which is working fine, and I can log-in and view it remotely from my in-laws computer; however from my laptop I simply get 'IE cannot display the page' even when I'm connected to the same router! I have tried the auto fix option and it seems the ping is not getting through so I'm thinking this is firewall rather than IE issue? This has been driving me nuts. I have lowered my ActiveX settings to 'prompt' or 'enable' and added my IP to my safe sites. I have added ports 80, 554 to 557 on my firwall with no success. I'm running VISTA with IE9, the outlaws are running XP with IE9 (i think). Any ideas would be welcome. Ta
tomcctv 190 Posted August 16, 2011 try removing all samsung programes from your laptop (and activex for dvr) then right click IE and pick run as administrator
SEANHAWG 1 Posted August 16, 2011 Your problem could also be IE9. Several DVR's have problems running on IE9. Try reverting back to IE8 to see if that solves the problem.
rodr 0 Posted August 19, 2011 Thanks for the responses. I finally got it working (somehow), removed the Samsung viewer software and reset all the ActiveX stuff, cookies and anything else I could in IE, so working on VISTA and IE9. Being totally new to CCTV, the networking has been by far the most difficult bit, I've learnt a lot about MAC and IP addresses, ActiveX, Router ports and firewalls! Next challenge will be viewing via the Samsung.net server. Thanks again.
