omg15 0 Posted August 19, 2011 Hello I want to build a low-price system using some cheap 4-channel DVR and 1/3 inch 400-500 tvl cameras. What DVRs and cameras will you recommend?
nDAlk90 0 Posted August 19, 2011 How cheap are we talking about? $10 a camera? $40? I think its always better to spend a little more and get quality. Cheap cameras only work well for general "observation" which means you will probably only be able to see if someone is on your property and not who is on it. Are you wanting to recognize people or just check on your property? How high are you going to mount the cameras? All these questions will determine what equipment can be recommended. Birdman Adam 0 Posted August 20, 2011 Do you need to be placed outdoors, indoors, or both? My currently-preferred choice: -4x CNB VCM-24VF -1x SRD-470D w/500GB HDD -cat5 cable w/baluns for power+video wiring -4-channel 12VDC PSU, 1A or higher If you only need 7.5FPS per channel at 4CIF res., then go with the SRD-450 for ~$300 w/500GB HDD. DVR should be ~$550, cameras should be ~$540 total, cat5 and 8 baluns should be ~$150, PSU should be ~$40. Total, ~$1300.
rory 0 Posted August 20, 2011 While the Samsung may be a great DVR, its not the cheapest out there. So if you are looking for an inexpensive system and something that is full featured, stable, and does the job for most applications, perhaps look at the Dahua DVRs - they are sold under different names and come in many different configurations. There are ofcourse other low cost DVRs that are full of features these days, unlike what we had to choose from just a couple years ago - though Dahua seems to be very popular now, its like the replacement for the cheap AvTechs of years gone by, but even lower priced and much better. With cheap DVRs though one also has to watch out for going too cheap as even if they claim to use the same compression type as their more expensive siblings, entry level DVRs can in some cases be lower quality video even when they have the same features - though most consumers may never even notice the difference. For cameras, either budget cameras like rebranded Color IR cameras, or better would be a middle of the line brand from a manufacturer like CNB. If you want better cameras though and can afford it, next step up would be the Samsungs at about double the price, then Panasonic for even more $$$.
omg15 0 Posted August 20, 2011 Well, here is some thoughts Cameras: Outdoor case; Operating temperature: -30...+30; 1/3 inch CCD(IMHO 1/4 inch is too small, bad quality of image); Horizontal resolution 400-500 tvl. DVR: 4 channel will be enough; without pre-installed HDD preferable, I have a few disks and I can install HDD by myself. I'm also have cat. 5e Ethernet cable, but I don't have power supply for cameras. Cameras will be installed at the height of 2,5 meters on the wall of the building. What do you think about cheap chinese 50...150$ DVRs that widely available on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330565584487 http://www.ebay.com/itm/220761639276
