nDAlk90 0 Posted August 22, 2011 A few days ago there a forum topic about a 700tvl camera vs. a CNB Monalisa. Having the 700tvl camera in question from that seller / manufacturer I though it would be interesting to show the image quality. While I do NOT have a CNB Monalisa to compare with, I do want to show how the camera compares to those I do have. Cameras: #1 = Sony 700tvl Effio-E 3.6mm Fixed Lens (Empire ESC4) #2 = Sony 520tvl HAD 3.6mm Fixed Lens (Gadspot GS658B) #3 = Sony 480tvl Super HAD 4mm Fixed Lens (Atrix DVCCMDNV665H) #4 = (SAME AS #2) P.S: This picture from a very rainy day at 8:05PM today. I'm very interested in your feedback.
Birdman Adam 0 Posted August 22, 2011 Looks good!! I will be able to see for my self next week, but that camera does look very nice! Very crisp for sure. Is it in B/W or color in the picture (upper-left)? Because I see some yellow from a street light? Is that zoomed all the way out? Oh, maybe this is a fixed model. Also, what are your settings like? Does this one have the WDR? What kind of IR?
SEANHAWG 1 Posted August 22, 2011 Thats good. Any chance of getting full D1 screen images
nDAlk90 0 Posted August 22, 2011 Thats good. Any chance of getting full D1 screen images This DVR is CIF Looks good!! I will be able to see for my self next week, but that camera does look very nice! Also, what are your settings like? Does this one have the WDR? What kind of IR? The camera was left in automatic mode for day/night settings. The yellow light in camera 1 is from a streetlight about 75 feet away. The camera is fixed lens. The settings were pretty much left alone at default.

Birdman Adam 0 Posted August 22, 2011 Yea, I bet it looks even better in D1! Also I was wondering, does this camera have IR?
nDAlk90 0 Posted August 22, 2011 Yea, I bet it looks even better in D1! Also I was wondering, does this camera have IR? I bet it would look better in D1. This is an IR camera, yes. That's why I'am so impressed.
SEANHAWG 1 Posted August 22, 2011 Thanks for the test, this is the kind of stuff that I think is pretty cool. I will have one similar test starting tomorrow, I was going to start today but my 24 VAC transformer blew. Actually I was going to start it yesterday but my laptop kept jacking up. This has been a very aggravating weekend.
shockwave199 0 Posted August 22, 2011 Very cool! Nice post. I have those GS658b's as well. Here they are in HD1 in best res in the dvr- Full dark except for inside lights through the window- 65 Watt overhead exterior light- Here they are in the same screen context as your picture, cams 3 & 4- Here's a GS4005CF Exview WDS, a 650tvl I really like that Empire you have there. Great stuff. Dan

This has been a very aggravating weekend. I'm glad everyone is impressed. I am looking to replace the garage cam (Camera 3). I'am really strongly considering the Empire ESC3 which is 2.8-12mm varifocal and has the same Effio-E chip as (Camera 1). It is more then a third cheaper then the CNB Monalisa. Unless the CNB Monalisa can see better then Camera 1 at night I really think it may very well have met its match.

SEANHAWG 1 Posted August 22, 2011 HD1 in best res in the dvr- HD1 is not the best rez on your DVR. D1 should be the best. HD1 stands for half D1
shockwave199 0 Posted August 22, 2011 Yes- half D1. I only have D1 on the first two channels. I meant highest bitrate. Sorry. Dan
nDAlk90 0 Posted August 23, 2011 Here is a picture from the day. You can see how much cleaner the left camera is compared to the right.
rory 0 Posted August 23, 2011 Looking at the green on the grass though, seems to be somewhat washed out, which is typical of a camera without an IR cut filter. Any chance of spinning it more out on the lawn when the sun is out to get a better idea, as its off to the edge so hard to really tell. Or maybe thats the color of the grass there
shockwave199 0 Posted August 23, 2011 As noted by the OP, each channel is at default settings correct? The 520tvl could be adjusted to be visually closer to the 700, but the 700 by default visually looks to be a better camera for sure. Dan

nDAlk90 0 Posted August 23, 2011 Its more green then it should be. However this camera doesn't overexpose the faces at night as the Gadspot cameras had during the night. Should I switch to a CNB?

shockwave199 0 Posted August 24, 2011 However this camera doesn't overexpose the faces at night as the Gadspot cameras had during the night. This can be adjusted in the picture settings to help that. Noodle with brightness/contrast. Dan
nDAlk90 0 Posted August 24, 2011 The Gadspot camera overexposes not the Empire. The Gadspot has no OSD menu and it is bad at nighttime. The Empire on the other hand is one of the best images I have seen during the night.
shockwave199 0 Posted August 24, 2011 Yes, I do agree- the Empire looks sweet. But the gad's can be adjusted in the dvr per channel. I mean, you do see that in your dvr right? Per channel, your picture adjustments should at least be hue, brightness, contrast, and saturation. That can help any camera and it absolutely would help your gads improve and be closer in looks to the empire- if you were to keep a mix of cameras. And especially the brightness/contrast for the gads, from your pictures. But I get it- CNB or not. Good luck. Dan
