Dindihi 0 Posted August 22, 2011 Hello, I’m searching for a good, not too expensive outdoor security camera. I already had the Trendnet TV-IP522P And the D-Link DCS-7110 The Trendnet has a poor Video Quality. The D-Link Software is a disaster! (as for nearly every Dlink device I tested) Movement detection is nearly impossible. Either no movement is detected at all, or all the time false positive detections. (And the real movement, when i walk in front of the cam is not detected) Answer from the D-Link Support: „Because you are experiencing the same lack of results with two units it can not be faulty cameras. Therefore, I must recommend you to look on areal external motion detector to achieve good enough results.“ SNMP Daemon on the camera dies after the first connection. Etc...... So what i need is an OUTDOOR Net camera (no wireless needed), with the possibility to monitor in complete darkness (so with IR lights). POE is an advantage, but not necessary. Reliable movement detection. Send pictures to email. Save movie to Nas. What do you think about the following device: Intellinet NBC-30 IR Other suggestions? THANKS! Peter_ 2 Posted August 23, 2011 Stick with a more well know, mainstream brand (Axis, Mobotix, Vivotek, Sony,Toshiba, etc). Sure, they might cost more, but it evens out over time, as you have already purchased two cameras.
lgRich 0 Posted August 23, 2011 Hi, Try this free software with your dlink for motion detection… http://www.yawcam.com/index.php
Dindihi 0 Posted August 23, 2011 Thanks for the link! Another fine software is "motion" for Linux and Zoneminder. But i can't run the software you mentioned, as i only have a small linux server (Via C7 processor) without a GUI. Same for zoneminder, you need a big processor. PS: The D-link and trendnet camera's are already sold
