PA2001 0 Posted August 24, 2011 Been shopping for a new 16ch DVR card, and have decided on the GV-1480. There are two versions available, one has the "D-sub type dongle" connectors, and the other has the "DVI dongle". Other than connector type, is there any difference between these cards? Also, from reading other posts, I saw that if I use v. 8.4 software, 16 IP cameras can be added to the system. Is this correct? Lastly, (if this type of question is allowed) a recommendation for a reliable vendor for legit cards at the best price. Thanks.
Birdman Adam 0 Posted August 25, 2011 After searching around, they look to be exactly the same. The advantage of the DVI card is that 16-ch of video is to one DVI plug, and the 16-ch of audio goes in the other DVI. With the D-type (D-sub) card, you have 2 D-sub connectors to handle 16-ch, and ANOTHER two (in an audio extension card) to handle the 16-ch of audio. So If I had to choose, I'd go with the DVI one, because you don't need to install the other extension card (saves slot space).
