dave948 0 Posted August 25, 2011 Looking for storage options for Pelco DX 8100 DVR. I have 4 of them, 2 are 1TB running win 2000 pro and 2 are 500GB running win xp. All 4 are version 1.XXX and not the 2.XXX that supports external drives. Pelco drive kits for these DVR's are very expensive, 1TB is $2400 and 2TB is $3500. The drive they use is made by Maxtor and I can buy a security rated 1TB drive for $200, why is the Pelco drive so much and can I use any rated drive? I don't care about the warranty being void. gmguys 0 Posted August 27, 2011 I have upgraded a few with Seagate and WD green drives and they work fine. I called the pelco tech and he gave me the links for all the software to download from there ftp site. I used 1 and 2 terrabyte drives. The machines all had sata connections. dave948 0 Posted September 1, 2011 Thanks Pelco doesn't really want to give a clear answer on the subject and for good reason, $3500 for a 2TB drive is no way to treat your customer base.
