jrmymllr 0 Posted August 28, 2011 Someone knocked a box camera with a Fujinon auto iris lens off a shelf 2-3 feet off the floor, which is shag carpet. I haven't had a chance to check it out much, but how fragile are the auto-iris mechanism in these lenses?
rory 0 Posted August 28, 2011 2-3 feet wont hurt it. Ive dropped cameras and lenses onto tile from 8 feet and they still worked fine. But the auto iris part is fragile, only if it bends or breaks up inside, which shouldnt happen unless you open it or the lens casing itself breaks.
Birdman Adam 0 Posted August 28, 2011 The whole mechanism should be secured well inside the case, so I'd say your totally fine!
jrmymllr 0 Posted August 29, 2011 Indeed it seems to be fine. I was worried because when I looked at the DVR recording (it was connected to a DVR at the time), after it had fallen the image was flickering and changing in brightness rapidly for several seconds. However I think this might have been a loose power or video connection because it has been working just fine after setting it back up.
