dahomes555 0 Posted July 10, 2012 I managed to get it to work on my macbook pro (Fall 2011 model, version 10.7.4). I removed/deleted the old PSS program and PSS folder in the applications folder, then I installed the latest Xquartz from here: http://xquartz.macosforge.org/downloads/SL/XQuartz-2.7.0.dmg Then I installed PSS v4.04 from here: http://www.dahuasecurity.com/File/201202/20120222183223864.rar If you need a program to unrar it, use UnRarX (http://www.unrarx.com/files/UnRarX_2.2.zip). Install the program and run the PSS icon (looks like a webcam). For some reason, it's a little slow when it runs, doesn't show the bouncing app icon when it's load, but eventually the Xquartz will load, then the username/password PSS window will pop up and you can login to view the cameras. It should only run slowly the first time you open it.

When I click the PSS icon, it loads up Xquartz, then after maybe 20 seconds, it will open up the PSS program, so I don't know if that's considered slow or not but it's longer than other MAC programs that come from Apple. KenS 0 Posted September 23, 2012 I have been using PSS on Lion and Mountain Lion for many months with no issues. I "updated" yesterday to the newest version of Mountain Lion, 10.8.2. Now PSS is no longer working for me. At first it wouldn't load at all and would freeze XQuartz when I would try to run it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled PSS. I also re-downloaded PSS to make sure I have the most recent version for Mac (the most recent one I could find is 4.04.7.T.20110815). I am now able to login and it sees my DVR and I am able to access the settings and menus. However, when I try to load up a camera the software freezes (it does not show the video and just locks up) and I have to force quit XQuartz. Is it no longer compatible with the newest OSX (10.8.2)? Anything else I can try? Many thanks in advance for any help!
Numb-nuts 1 Posted September 23, 2012 Why did you update to a higher version of Mac is there some other software you needed the latest update for? I hate updating my Mac OS because it always means updating all my other software. You'd think that updating would be good thing, but in my experience it's a damn nuisance especially with Mac. It's almost impossible to updat without having to update everything else and some software hasn't updated to the latest Mac OS yet so you either do without it, and wait for the update which always costs, or you do without and find some other application that does the same thingthat is compatible. For that reason I am still using Mac V 10.8.5 and still everything is working great, the last thing I want is to update for the sake of it. (I'd like to if it wasn't such a pain)
KenS 0 Posted September 24, 2012 I have only been using a Mac system for 18 months or so and usually update when the system prompts me that a new version of the operating system is out. This is the first time I have encountered a problem. But I think I will follow your advice going forward!

While not ideal, when I run Parallels in coherence mode the end result is close to what I had before the OSX "update". Hopefully the PSS Mac version will get updated at some point (or the problem will be sorted in the next OsX update.
KenS 0 Posted September 29, 2012 There is a lite version of PSS which is working in 10.8.2. Here is a link to it: http://www.dahuasecurity.com/download/General_PSS_Mac_Eng_IS_V1.00.1.R.120706.rar Hopefully they will update the full featured version at some point....
