MisterD 0 Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) Spec'ing out a surveillance system and I'm considering the SC-Black 8 channel model. According to their website it offers full D1 recording on all 8 channels. Am I missing something big, or is this just a good deal for under $400? I was considering the Apollo HD 8, but the SC seems like much more bang for the buck (they're priced about the same). Any thoughts or comments are appreciated. Thanks! -Casey Edited August 30, 2011 by Guest
SEANHAWG 1 Posted August 30, 2011 Their specs are a little misleading. In the description it says "The BLK-DH1008000D is a powerful pentaplex DVR that supports up to 8 channels in full D1 resolution at 30 frames per second, in real-time live, recording and playback modes." But then when you go furthur down it says "Recording – This DVR features real-time live, real-time video recording at 120 FPS @ 720x480. This allows you to select either seamless full-motion recording or recording at higher resolutions, which is more important to you". Basically they are not telling you the whole story. It appears that it does full frame rate 30 FPS every channel in CIF which is pretty typical among most DVR's. In D1, it does 120 FPS at D1 which is not full frame rate D1. It would need to be 240 FPS to be full frame rate D1. Their specs are also lacking alot of other details.
rory 0 Posted August 30, 2011 The real question is, who makes it? Where is the software screenshots? Has anyone ever used it?

I hadn't noticed that at first glance, guess I should've been reading with a more critical eye. I attempted to ask their "live chat" but was given a contact form after waiting a few mins... The real question is, who makes it?Where is the software screenshots? Has anyone ever used it? I was hoping someone who had used one could chime in. I actually found reference to that one from another post on this board, although it could've just been someone self-promoting. Another major different between the SC-Black and the Qvis/Dahua is a lack of mobile viewing. Doesn't look like it's compatible with any smart devices (or even remote viewing outside of my network?). I'm starting to lean more towards the Qvis. I think I may be able to overlook the D1 fps advantage and go with the Qvis with more features/support. That is, unless anyone here tells me how great their life has been since installing the SC-Black.. Thanks for the responses guys, -Casey

tomcctv 190 Posted August 31, 2011 Hi, cant even find a true spec for it. i was going to call it cheap. but thats another thing i cant find out the price between all the companies that have it listed is between $400 and $3.400. but if a company cant list a true spec then take the D1 and its viewing res and not the true recording RES. lots of companies sell as true D1 they just leave out of there spec sheet if that viewing or recording and on most you are recording CIF. or a low D1 frame rate
