New cctv system

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

I have been researching this forum for some time and I'm close to pulling the trigger on a new dvr system. My property is 75' x 50' lot with a two story house with driveway along house and garage in back. I will be placing cameras under the roof eave about 20' up.

Since there are so many good reviews of the Dahua dvrs, I am looking at the 8 ch Qvis with a 1 tb drive.

Four cameras like the CNB VCM-24VF vandal resistant dome.

One PTZ which I haven't decided on yet. Any recomandations on a good value ptz would be appreciated.

One front door camera. Maybe a bullet camera like the KPC-VBN190NHP4 KT&C 550 TVL. Front door has good light at night.

And will use good quality cat6 cable with balun.

Is there anything else I need to look for? Any advice from the experts will be appreciated.

CNB i have used alot of. we have also been using the qvis domes. Winner 5DSP 600TVL 2.8-1mm Lens and the VAN-2604VFHWH-SF

both of which are cheaper than the CNB also no messing with baluns (as built in RJ45 connection)

Built in baluns? That is cool!!

Yea, I can recommend CNBs as well. If your mounting at 20' though, you won't see faces, just heads and bodies. Of course this height is better for more 'overview' shots. These cameras do need SOME light, so if you are not putting up any IR, its best to set up some cheap motion-floodlights.

UTP cable with baluns is easy to install, and cheaper. Overall, I'm liking your system!

I don't have any PTZ recommendations (haven't used one yet).
