ccn1 0 Posted September 10, 2011 Hi All I have a question on loft boxes, or home distribution units as they are also called. Currently I have 2 cameras and a DVR (4 channel). We have a basic home distribution box in the loft which sends our Sky signal to every point in the house, I wondered if I could send the CCTV signals as well so we can see what's going on outside (with the kids etc) from any TV in the house and still have the system recording? Thanks in advance Chris
higg 0 Posted September 11, 2011 I'm far from an expert. I have wired a few houses for cable(directv). Sadly the only feesable way w/o running more cables, would be a diplexer http://m.radioshack.com/radioshack/product/detail.do?itemId=2103927 You would need on diplexer at the distribution box, with the cable and dvr runs going into it. You will also need one at every tv. Higher quality is better(cat 5, or 6 cable, as well.) Hope this helps. I haven't tried above method. I have used it to send sat, and over the air signals ie antenna, and satellite, or dual satellites. So in theory it should handle it. Of you have satellite now ot may already be there(diplexer). Depending on your box's location you could wire a switch box on. Somewhere easily accessible. Downfall of that would be you could only watch the cameras, or cable.
