thewarden 0 Posted September 12, 2011 I have a Swann Alpha 8ch Defend & Deter DVR. Twice I've tried formatting the hard drive, but it seems like it's just not working. It states "formatting hard drive" but after a day and a half it still says it. I have to unplug it to get it back to a working state, and nothing has changed. All my video still there, and no problems in operation but it just won't format. This happened twice. It CAN'T take that long to format a 500gb drive!! Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is it just a bad box? UPDATE : Nv mnd. It worked after setting everything back to factory defaults. Then I went in and did a format and it took seconds. Odd.
