Hi there...

I just got 2 new IP cameras from a chinese supplier... bad decission, but now I have them, and I see an okay picture in the web based menu of the camera.

But Im not able to get I working with CyeWeb, Milestone and so on...

 

I dont have a brand or model number of the camera, but it has a lot of features builtin, is it possible to have it stream to a surveillance server ?

Wireshark http://www.wireshark.org/ is an application that will let you look at the actual URI connection information from a browser session, to use in the universal driver setup.

How do I know which stream that my camera uses ?

 

I know that it uses port 3000 to stream to the software that comes with the camera, but I dont know if its http, RTP and so on.

 

Can you guide me in how to use the wireshark ?

A little bit of Googling around came up with this, it's a fairly good start.

Wireshark isn't the easiest tool to use, but it's very powerful, and worth a little time to learn.

I have now analysed the output from wireshark, and it seems that my camera sends the data to the browser window with HBCI protocol and port 3000.

 

Can Milestone handle HBCI protocol ?

There is some software with the camera called ImagineWorldClient which can view the stream from the camera... Do you know it ?

Hmmm, I had to Google HBCI to figure out what it even was, which appears to be something associated with home banking...I'm guessing that Wireshark identified it as such because of the port number it uses (completely non-standard, BTW), rather than the actual data in the packet. You might try the software packaged with the camera with a Wireshark session, and see if it pulls a different data stream type from the camera.

 

Also, you might try VLC Media Player to test opening RTP/RTSP streams to the camera (with that port number and IP address), it'll be quicker than testing different settings with Milestone.

 

After a while, you may be reaching a point of deciding how much your time is worth to you, rather than getting a camera that is supported by your NVR software.

 

I do enjoy these types of challenges, but sometimes it's just not worth it.

This is the URL to get RTSP streaming: RTSP://192.168.1.19:554/live from those cameras. It is not compatible with Milestone or CyeWeb. I heard they are working on ONVIF standard. Nothing release yet so far.

Cloret: Do you know any other known software that will work with those cameras ??

 

What I want to do is to have the live stream on an Iphone, and can manage the recordings on my server instead of inside the camera software.

Here is a tutorial video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsahDWNByVQ It offers some general hints for how to do the RTSP streaming video. Frankly, I'm afraid you have to contact your supplier to get more specific info. about your camera, so you can work out a compatible solution. Or, the supplier can offer the official software for the camera. Sometimes, only suppliers or manufacturers know what unbranded china stuffs really are.

BTW,based on my experience, yes, it's a annoying to buy china stuffs as many items are unbranded, but prices are good. My friends and I use comparison site to help us find the best one. I know QNAP has a JPEG CGI command interface to allow users to get video streams from cameras that are not on their support list right now. Maybe that is something you can try?
