aproberts 0 Posted September 14, 2011 I have some possums (cute native Aussie bush tails) living in an isolated part of my roof. I could bomb them with camphor and board up the hole at night when they leave. This is the recommended solution, or, I could keep them as pets. I know this is, ahhh, unusual. I would like to the kids and I to be able to watch them by setting up a infrared light/cam system. Is this possible using CCTV? Hell I could even web cast their antics. My goal: I would hope I could put in a very wide angle close focus (10cm-80cm) camera of some sort, with an infrared light source. I would then like to cable this to my PC or a digital picture frame. If I did get the video to my PC, I could then get it on the web _ hope What is the best way to do this? Can anyone suggest gear. Are there close focus CCTV cameras Can I get the signal into a form my computer can read (say CCTV -> USB) or do I need CCTV-> Box -> USB to PC. Can I cast it? - or tell me that it is impossible (say, due to focus), vastly expensive, or point me in the right direction. Thanks for your help!
mike_va 0 Posted September 14, 2011 Here's how I did it, the least expensive way (~ $100-200) would be something like: Analog cam Bosch LTC0355 ($5 ebay), used Axis server model 2400+ (~$50 ebay) or 241S ($100 ebay), light = fluor flood (or cheap IR), software = Vitamin D (get the $50 version that allows 2 cameras and does not limit resolution. http://vitamindinc.com/ Right click on events that have been saved, possibly edit, upload to youtube
