onion 0 Posted September 19, 2011 I have been lurking on this site for the last couple of weeks and finally decided to post. I am in charge of our security system here at a custom metal fabricators shop and we need to replace the pc based Geovision GV650 (new June 2007) we are currently using because the PC is dying and instead of replacing the pc and having to maintain it we thought a stand alone is a better option. we monitor our site 24/7/365. Night time is critical. I had purchased an Avermedia EH1008H but was pretty disappointed with that fact that the data cannot be setup for raid as the datasheet suggests. Also the web viewer require you to be logged in and run as an administrator thus opening up security issues on the computer used to view the video. In general the Avermedia seemed like it had pretty decent specs but proved to be a PIA to setup. Below are some of the criteria I am looking for to have in a new stand alone DVR. Please make recommendations. 8 channels min. no audio used web based viewing smart phone viewing ? Not sure of frame rate needed.
