bill4d 0 Posted October 12, 2011 I'm currently considering several different Samsung analog cameras for my system. My question is, are cameras for extreme environments necessary? At what point are heaters and fans inside cameras necessary? Where I am temperatures can range from about 5°F - 105°F.
dustmop 0 Posted October 12, 2011 I'm in the midwest US, and winters here tend to be below freezing (but usually above 0F). Using mostly Pelco exterior enclosures with heaters/fans, I can honestly say that it IS needed below freezing. In fact, I have a few cameras that are in such windy spots, that ice STILL builds up on them, despite the heaters (I've just started looking for something rated for much more severe weather to try and prevent this).
