juturna 0 Posted October 13, 2011 Hi guys, I'm new to CCTV cameras. I wanted to install a few cameras on my property. I was wondering what will give me a wider angle 1/4" sensor 3.6mm or 1/3" sensor 3.6mm? Thanks for your help!
dustmop 0 Posted October 13, 2011 The raw mathematical answer is: At 10 feet, a 1/4" 3.6mm yields an FOV of 10' x 7.5'. At 10 feet, a 1/3" 3.6mm yields an FOV of 13.3' x 10'.
rory 0 Posted October 14, 2011 1/3" is wider than 1/4" I wont bore you with the other details.
shockwave199 0 Posted October 14, 2011 Here's some pics from my install for an example. Putting aside picture quality, the fov between each camera is what to look at. Each camera is in the same spot, the older ones that I swapped out being the 1/4". 1/4" 3.6mm 1/3" 4mm 1/4" 3.6mm 1/3" 4mm Hope this helps to get a visual sense of things.
