Securame 0 Posted October 25, 2011 I am quite sure that I recently read an article about a city/country that made/was making mandatory for new businesses to have a CCTV system in order to get their license; I think it also said that exiting business would have a given time for installing a CCTV system, or would not get their licenses renewed. I would say that I read it somewhere on this forum, or maybe linked from this forum, but I am unable to find anything using the forum search. Has anyone read any news about this subject? Thanks! Soundy 1 Posted October 25, 2011 I googled "mandatory cctv for new businesses" and found this: http://www.cordilleravoice.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=583:mandatory-installation-of-cctv-by-business-firms-in-crime-prone-areas-mulled&catid=91:baguio-city&Itemid=157 Mandatory installation of CCTV by business firms in crime-prone areas mulledBy Mari Cruz Saturday, 09 July 2011 23:47 BAGUIO CITY - The Regional Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (RLECC) is set to come up with a resolution requesting the Baguio City Council Peace and Order Council to craft an ordinance making it mandatory for establishment owners to install Closed-Circuit Television(CCTV) cameras inside and outside their premises as deterrent and for easy monitoring of criminal activities in the area. In the second quarter RLECC regular meeting held last week, the Sub-Committee on Intelligence Coordination (SCIC) identified the installation of the CCTV as a more effective tool in the anti-criminality campaign in the city. Accordingly, installation of CCTV systems especially in major business establishments and in identified crime-prone areas would lead criminals to be apprehensive in perpetrating their crimes. Atty. Elmer Sagsago of the Department of Justice has suggested that perhaps one of the conditions for the issuance of a business permit will be for the establishment to install a CCTV for purposes of preventing criminality. Newly designated Baguio City Police Office Deputy City Director for Operations, PSupt Benjamin Sembrano said the Quezon City government has already adopted the CCTV policy and due for implementation next year. Bartolome said he is planning to meet with concerned local government officials in Metro Manila soon to tackle the issue. He noted that in Pasay City, the CCTV systems are already among the requirements for entrepreneurs to get business permits for their establishments. Securame 0 Posted October 25, 2011 It wasn't any of those, but the second one rang a bell; the news I had read was about Philippines. So I trimmed down the search with "Manila", and I did came out with a few related to the article I had already read. It wasn't this one, but it does sum it up: http://www.mb.com.ph/articles/337946/no-cctv-no-business-permit Now I wonder how I end up reading that, if it wasn't from this forum... Thank you!
