Rally_Rebel 0 Posted October 28, 2011 Hi all! Looking for recommendations for a lens to use on GE KTC2000DN camera that will be used outdoors in an enclosure with separate IR LED illuminators (eBay 48 LED cheapies). They'll be mounted about 10' up on either side of our entry gate, two cameras covering opposite approaches on the frontage road. Thanks!

You need to specify the horizontal distance from the camera to the FOV ( approx. distance from camera will be calculated using pythagorus) and either the scene width or height then you can use a lens calculator to determine the appropriate focal length. That camera uses a 1/3 " CCD sensor. Depending on the actaul calculation you may have to buy a varifocal lens if the precise focal length is not standard. rory 0 Posted October 28, 2011 2.8-11mm Auto Iris 1/3" Infrared Corrected (IR) Lens. Then you can adjust the view as you need it (within that range) Check out Computar or Fujinon brands for example. If you just want a wide angle get something like a 3.6mm or 4mm fixed lens.
Rally_Rebel 0 Posted October 29, 2011 Thanks! I've seen some reference to aspherical lenses but isn't consistent, is that a pertinent feature? I'll be shooting some pics from the mounting points with a DSLR for planning to give a perspective of the desired FoV so will post after shooting.
