rory 0 Posted December 14, 2011 If the DVR says it uses ActiveX, it cannot be used with anything except IE, period. Thats not completely correct. There is a plugin called IE Tabs for Chrome and FF which let you run ActiveX inside those browsers. Additionally an ActiveX control can be used in most Windows Programs. I use them all the time in programming, in many cases they are all that is available in the SDK from a manufacturer, plus they make development quicker. We also create our own ActiveX controls and they are definitely crreated for use in a Web browser. Simply ActiveX controls make it east to reuse code between apps that require some kind of object, eg. Command Buttons, or in most of my cases, Video windows. ActiveX controls used in programs for video .. the CNB/Indigo DVRs X-IRS / Argus ActiveX ActiveX from GE for GE/Kalatel DVRs GeoVision ActiveX controls even works in Linux...
