rory 0 Posted December 14, 2011 If the DVR says it uses ActiveX, it cannot be used with anything except IE, period. Thats not completely correct. There is a plugin called IE Tabs for Chrome and FF which let you run ActiveX inside those browsers. Additionally an ActiveX control can be used in most Windows Programs. I use them all the time in programming, in many cases they are all that is available in the SDK from a manufacturer, plus they make development quicker. We also create our own ActiveX controls and they are definitely crreated for use in a Web browser. Simply ActiveX controls make it east to reuse code between apps that require some kind of object, eg. Command Buttons, or in most of my cases, Video windows.
