CnM Secure cable set up

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have this box from CnM Secure, http://194.150.201.35/cnmsecure/support/primus4chan.htm. I have connected the box via VGA to monitor and connected one camera into Video Input. I turn on the box and get no signal, there is no power light on the camera. There is a second wire off the camera which doesn't seem to fit anywhere on the box. The instructions seem to suggest this second connection is for power. The attached image shows the back of the box, the camera connectors and the extension connectors. Can someone tell me how to connect so I can get feed from camera.

Thanks

Tom

The extra connector is for camera power. The camera should be marked with what it takes (typically 12Vdc or 24Vac, sometimes both), and may have come with a small power supply with a matching connector. Be sure the PS you plug in matches the power requirements marked on the camera.

You should be getting a signal to the VGA monitor from the recorder whether there's a camera connected or not. Typically, you'll get some boot up screens showing the manufacturer's logo or whatever, then something like "Video Loss", and you should be able to go through the menus. Check the manual to make sure the recorder is set up for VGA output.

Thanks MacIcon, I have it working now. We had some camera boxes lying around so it was hard to know which wires were for which product, and I didn't realise there was a power splitter cable.
