rory 0 Posted August 18, 2005 Short for "original equipment manufacturer". OEMs buy products in bulk and customize them for a particular application. They then sell the customized products under their own name. The term is really incorrect because OEMs are not the original manufacturers - they are the customizers. VST_Man 1 Posted August 18, 2005 go Rory go! I think OEM evolved from the Military as they put acronyms to everything.........and I could send ya few if you want to try to work those out also? Let's start with a oldie but goodie...FUBAR........this one applies to the poor installers I follow around. And, there is an actual acronym WEB site out there that has a feature where you can put the acronym in and it returns the different definitions. Be careful of the sell on this WEB site. http://www.acronymfinder.com/
