android smartphone with GV 1240 and router security

i have geovision GV 1240 V8.12 and Motorola Defy running android

 

are there any issues with the standard geovision RPC ( remote playback client ) with android or do i need to use aftermarket software ?

 

is there an easier way or better apps to put on my smartphone to do it with ?

 

also what do people recommend with ADSL router setup to maintain privacy ( Billion 7800N )

 

are standard firewall settings good enough ?

 

i am betting the pro techies among you would know better ways to do it than what is in the Geovision guide.
