lselfstorage 0 Posted December 9, 2011 Hi, I'm new to the forums and am in the process of setting up 3 locations to be monitored from a centralized location. We have one existing location being served off a 16 CH Swann DVR, and the two other locations are about to be using Dahua units. From what I can tell the Dahua's use PSS for the PC software - will it be able to connect to the Swann 16 Channel DVR? Strangely enough - on our iPads an App (IP Cam Viewer) detects the Swann as an Eyemax unit if that helps any.
rory 0 Posted December 9, 2011 Doubt it but post the Swan model.
lselfstorage 0 Posted December 9, 2011 It's a Swann SWDVK-162608..we've been able to get just about any client to connect to this unit...except for PSS...not sure whats so different about it.
rory 0 Posted December 9, 2011 It doesnt appear to be a DVR made by Dahua. PSS will only connect to Dahua devices. You could try this one: http://www.digivisiondvr.com/products/DVRSoftwareSystem/NVRSoftware.asp Although it is an NVR client it supports DVRs and/or IP cameras from: Dahua, Ikvision, DG Series, Sony, ACTi, Huviron, Mobotix M12, Arecont, Camtron, Axis, Vivotek, Sanyo, ONVIF Basically it works with Dahua DVRs and IP cameras, and various DVRs or IP cameras from the other brands listed. lselfstorage 0 Posted December 9, 2011 Maybe I can talk the owner into ditching the Swann... In terms of quality and lineup...how much better is the Dahua? Is it midrange, on par with the Swann? Maybe I can use the incompatibility between the Swann and PSS as a reason to offload it. I'm sure there is a market for used DVRs. The owner is adamant about using one software to access all 3 locations. PSS looks much better than Video Server E, and some of the other Swann software I've used. tomcctv 190 Posted December 9, 2011 hi. yes if your using server e then you have the rebranded avtech. and will using server e they are a few years old. avtech i would say are the low end budget DVR. what i meen bt that is its the lowest you would buy before going into un named brands. still has support and are good for what they are. Dahua ... people say domestic or low end but infact they make for big boys such as hikvision. dahua will do the job that you need
