casey 0 Posted August 18, 2005 I'm shoping around for some RG59 siamese cable. I tried looking on Ebay and found a 1,000ft of RG59 for around $160.00US inc. shiping. Then I came across some that is Plenum rated at twice the cost.I have no Idea what plenum means. Which one would I need? Are the prices/quality reasonable on Ebay? Thanks for any info. cctvfan 0 Posted August 18, 2005 My understanding is plenum grades are FT4 rated and suitable for installs above drop-ceiling levels. In the event of a fire the hazard due to toxic combustion of the cables is minimized, as the fumes emitted might get into the air circulation.
rory 0 Posted August 18, 2005 You wont need Plenum for the home. Also, you can get the cable from the same place you buy the cameras and DVR. 500' of RG59 Siamese is normally around $75 and 1000' around $200.
