Lag when watching archive footage from offsite computer

When I log into my rifatron dvrs, the play back is super slow. On site or with a remote connection there is lag, even when I am just watching the live view. This is happening with my 4 channel and my 16 channel HD. Resolution and frame rate seem to make no difference, set to cif or 4cif, 8fps of 30. This was not always the case, about two months ago this became a problem. I even upgraded my upload to a 1.5mbps, still slow. I only get real time when I choose to view only one channel at a time. Any one else out there having this problem with these dvr's? These are standalone dvrs, and I am out of ideas.
