TomNots 0 Posted August 23, 2005 Hi, Thank You guys for any help you may offer in advance. Well, I figured I would take on a project at work, installing a CCTV system. Ok, no problem I am technical enough to do this I build PC's, Home theater and so on. Oops hmm maybe not. I was Ok until I came across the whole PTZ end of it. Well this is what I am working with. Pelco Spectra III PTZ ( Only 1) Pelco Keyboard KB300 (Only 1) Digital Srite 2 Plus w/ 600 GB Now all the docs I come across mention 6700 mode or Direct Mode. I would like to install the camera and the keyboard to the DVR. My guess is that i need to run the RJ45 from the back of the KB to the PTZ is there a distance issue with this. Then run a twisted pair from the serial port on the DVR to the PTZ camera. Do I need anything else ie. controlers, switchers or anything of that soort. Thank You for you help !! shill1 0 Posted September 6, 2005 Unless you plan on controlling the dome camera from several locations via ethernet you wouldnt need to use the RJ-45 cable. Do you plan on networking?? Can you post more info?? You may need items like a RS232/485 data convertor etc.
DataAve 0 Posted September 6, 2005 Your best bet would be to call Pelco directly, they will bend oer backwards to help you.
CSG 0 Posted September 7, 2005 I dont think your Pelco keyboard will interface with the Dedicated Micros DVR. DM makes their own keyboard for that purpose. Not sure if your Pelco domes are compatible with the network software, you should check DM's website under the support section. there are a limited set of Domes/PTZ controls that are compatible. You can also call DM's tech support line, they are usually pretty helpful.
