Is anything in this price range OK? I noticed some recommend hard drive manufacturers, Are they fussy about the HDD make? Will a PC HDD work as a temp measure, HDD prices are a bit steep at the moment. Ideally i want a 2TB drive. My initial thought was a Storage Options 53280. 8CH 2TB. Approx £250. UK Based. Thanks. Seedigital 0 Posted January 9, 2012 I think I used that bottom link you have there as a cheap 8 channel multi-plexer for a customer once (It looks the same but I don't know the brand) I was amazed when we realised it was in fact a full dvr, Yeah you just mount a standard 3.5" hdd in there it will work fine. It was a cheap DVR devoid of any advanced feature sets, lacks I/O but it worked. Depends on the application really. Oh and for the HDD I'd recommend WD Black hdd, as they have a sweet warranty and they tend to handle the high writes associated with camera use a lot better than your generic hdd. SectorSecurity 0 Posted January 9, 2012 Dont worry about the manufacturer of the hard drive so much as will the unit support a 2TB drive? This becomes a matter of the firmware installed on the DVR usually you can update the firmware, however just something to check.
rory 0 Posted January 9, 2012 for those prices you might as well get a Dahua DVR. (eg. sold under the A-Data brand in the UK)
