capun 0 Posted January 9, 2012 Hello I need a reccomendation on a security camera. I have a DVR with 2 cameras, the newest is the Lorex CVC6985U 540 lines Day/Night Motion detector camera. I need to get a 3rd camera and be able to capture people's faces at night (I need to identify some pranksters). The CVC6985U is good but a bit too big and I could use a better resolution camera. What camera could be better than the Lorex and not be so expensive? I can get the Lorex at Amazon for about $90 Thanks
brianparkes 0 Posted January 28, 2012 Getting better resolution for roughly the same price might be a little tough, but I've never used that particular camera. I've had good results from the basic cameras at supercircuits.com. I run a surveillance department at a casino, and most of those cameras are just fine. Of course in the lower light, you might want to look at the infrared cameras (they have an array of LED looking bulbs on the front of the cameras). If your resolution looks poor at night, that might be the issue.

brianparkes 0 Posted January 28, 2012 What $5k hybrid are you talking about? My prices are stupid? I'm not selling anything, just letting you know where I found a lot of my stuff because my management hates it when I spend money on camera equipment (not part of a "revenue producing department"). brianparkes 0 Posted January 29, 2012 I usually go for their $90-$120 cameras. Of course the stuff they like to list first are the more expensive stuff, so you have to go to the end of their product list, but I've had decent results on the cheaper cameras and lenses. True, a lot of their stuff is way over priced, but once you find their cheaper stuff, it is just fine. I'm open to suggestions of other sites that have cheaper stuff. You MANAGE SURVEILLANCE, for a CASINO, where MILLIONS OF DOLLARS are raked in daily, and you're using the CHEAPEST CAMERAS YOU CAN FIND and LOOKING FOR CHEAPER?!?!
