TechnicalTony 0 Posted February 1, 2012 This has to be one of my biggest headaches of late, Chap has a blackberry running DMSS, latest firmware on his unit, RTSP and TCP ports are opened on his router, everything else is connecting fine but still no pictures on connection. Has anyone found a better player to use on these or am I just fighting a lost cause with Blackberries? Oh and now he wants to be able to use it with a Blackberry tablet I swear RIM do it on purpose. Oh yeah he's using a Dahua standalone (Zeus)
rory 0 Posted February 1, 2012 Dahua support told me they arent doing much with Blackberry as not many people using them now - i told them well in my country its still very big mostly due to the service roaming or something (clients that travel between countries alot) .. but anywho ... I was asking why they didnt have DMSS on the blackberry market. he would have better luck if he had an android tablet .. looks like that is their priority now and is released before everything else (except PSS). Although they just released an HD app for the iPad, but its not free.
SEANHAWG 1 Posted February 1, 2012 Has anyone found a better player to use on these or am I just fighting a lost cause with Blackberries? Yes, unfortunately you are fighting a lost cause. And lets face it, Blackberries suck compared to iPhones and Androids, LOL. Most DVR manufacturers are only focusing on Android and iPhone nowadays. I dont think I am even going to advertise that these work with blackberries anymore due to the inconsistency issues. There are so many versions of the blackberries and I have heard they are the hardest to develop for because they change their interface all of the time. But first I would check that you can even see an RTSP stream through a video player like VLC media player. They have an option where you can view the RTSP stream. Rory has a guide on how to do this if your interested.

I totally agree. I write iOS apps as a hobby and love how easy it is to design an App knowing it will appear the same on every device(except maybe the iPad). I can only imagine how difficult it must be to have to deal with Blackberry's collection of poorly designed interfaces. They're the masters of their own demise.
