dedsnags 0 Posted February 2, 2012 Just got a kguard system with 4 cameras and 500gb dvr. Got everything up and running on my home network (laptop, ipad and android phone) after lots of research and 3 hours with tech support on phone. I ran a long ethernet cable from the dvr to my router to make all this happen. My question is I have a linksys gaming adapter (WGA600N) that Id like to use off of the dvr to pick up the router instead of hard wiring it with long cable. The kguard tech wasnt sure if it would work so Im hoping someone here will have an answer. I then need to know what has to be done for viewing from my work computer. ssmith10pn 0 Posted February 5, 2012 The gaming adapter will work. You need to first plug it in USB to your computer to configure. It would be setup just like it was a gaming device that was ethernet only. The gaming adapter is simply a wireless bridge. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
dedsnags 0 Posted February 7, 2012 thank you for the reply. I couldnt see how it wouldnt work, the only problem now is how do I get my cameras on my pc using it? When I hard wired the ethernet cable to the modem I used the default ip from the dvr to see it on pc. When I use gaming adapter I have nothing. Do I need the ip from the gaming adapter? soxisix 0 Posted March 6, 2012 To complicate your life a little more you could try using DD-WRT software on your router, if it is supported to run a wireless bridge. You would still access the dvr though the IP addressed to it. The wireless bridge would take the place of an Ethernet cable.
