Lens mount in cheapy IP camera

Recommended Posts

Would anyone know what lens mount is on these cheapy IP cameras? Is there just a board camera in these? I would like to know if I can change the lens easily before getting one.

I only need to be able to see if objects are in the scene. Need a stronger lens because of the distance. This is just a short term use.

I don't have a clue about the camera but you can take it apart and see. That's the best way to make sure your ordering the correct lens.

I have not purchased one, I want to know what's in it before hand and what is readily available in lenses so I know I can change it for my app. Surely I can't be the only one that modifies OEM stuff here.

Most of these have board cam lenses (usually M12 thread), but there are always exceptions in the low-end cam market, and you never know until you try. In general, the cheapest way to lens a camera like this is to use an inexpensive board cam lens, so that's what they do.

The good news is you can buy a single lens, or sets of 3 or more lenses, cheaply from ebay, amazon, or dealextreme, if you want to test some different ranges. I'm guessing the quality isn't great, but that comes with the price range.
