renz05725 0 Posted February 20, 2012 Is there a away of getting a dvr to view a camera in its normal view and at the same time have it attached to a pvm with a splitter and have the PVm show the mirror image of what the camera view is? I have a install going and seem to be fighting this issue and cant seem to figure it out.
Soundy 1 Posted February 20, 2012 I've seen a few monitors with "mirror" switch, but they're rare... Couldn't tell you any names off the top of my head.
renz05725 0 Posted February 21, 2012 So what would you recommend to resolve this issue soundy?
Soundy 1 Posted February 21, 2012 You'll pretty much be limited to an actual CCTV monitor, rather than any sort of consumer monitor or TV... you'll have have to check the specs to find one with the mirror option. I never actually looked for that function, I just know I've seen it once or twice in the menus of some monitors, and it's been quite a while, so I can't really say which ones they were... might have been a NANOV or AG Neovo, or maybe the usual big names like Panasonic or National Electronics. Most monitors designed for CCTV will have loop-through inputs as well, so you can run the camera straight into the monitor and then out from there to the DVR, avoiding the signal degradation you normally get by splitting the signal. renz05725 0 Posted February 21, 2012 So its normal then to have your PVM show everything reverse? The dvr shows what we want, but the pvm shows right is left and left is right, is this normal and exceptable?
Soundy 1 Posted February 21, 2012 In my experience, yes, that's the norm - I've never actually set one up to mirror the image... but as I say, I HAVE seen the option available in a few monitors. Remember, the idea is not for people to sit and study themselves in it, it's just to let them know that they ARE on camera. Reversed or not, seeing themselves there as they walk under it gets the point across about as good as it's going to be gotten.
