Speco IPRG59 or other Ethernet over Coax

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever used the IPRG59 from Speco Tech? Looks like a passive transmitter for 10 base T ethernet over Coax.

http://specotech.com/Catalog/?action=viewprod&catid=309&prodID=1006

Since 10baseT is 10 Mbps, and an ACTI ACM 3401 is up to 3 Mbps, this would work, right? I know that any higher streaming rate would not work, but in theory...

If you think that this product is garbage, or awesome, please let me know.

Thanks,

Seth

Interesting product.

I wonder if it works for copper clad though

Check the price though, might be cheaper just to run a single cat5

I can see where existing siamese might come in handy though, with the 18awg already run.

I am thinking of using it to upgrade the camera on a apartment building's front door. The 480 TVL camera there is OK, but a 1 megapixel camera woud capture a larger image. Plus, the customer is already used to the low frame rate ACTI's ACM series provides, due to their old DVR.

Maybe a junction box behind the camera would work.

That would surely work for a better camera. Now how do I hide it in the dome housing?

AK357, do you know if that component is sold through distribution, or from an online vendor(preferably a sponsor of this site of course.)? Their "Where to buy" link leaves much to be desired.

Does this product come with warranty? This company website doesn't have a where to buy section?
