johnny916 0 Posted March 2, 2012 I am installing a security camera system from Costco (Lorex) but I don't want to use their cables and/or power supplies incase I am not satisfied with their system I am simply swap out the cameras and DVR with another. I want to use cat5e cable along with a power distribution box, all cameras within 200 ' of power box, 8x cameras being installed with LED's for light.. What's the best way to power these cameras?? Can I simply double up on some of the cat5e wires?
kumandan 0 Posted March 2, 2012 hi johnny916, i think you should use 1-coaxial 99.9% Cooper RG-6 for Display. 2- Pony 2 Pair Cable For Power Supply. 3- Individual Power Supply for each Cam. keeping in mind that Given Solution is just for Analog System
jxk716 0 Posted March 2, 2012 You can use 1 pair on baluns, at both ends, and the other 3 together for power back to the central power supply
Mrcarcrazy 0 Posted March 5, 2012 +1, Cat5e - 3 twisted pairs used for power, 1 pair used for video. Works for my CNB's...hoping it works for IR equipped cams as well.
