johnmiod 0 Posted March 5, 2012 Has anyone had any luck trying to connect text overlay by splitting a CAT5e cable........I have a client that has a Ruby POS system with a receipt printer that is connected with a CAT5e cable. I am looking to see if there has been any success splitting the CAT5e cable that runs from the Ruby POS terminal to their receipt printer. Basically making a Y - connector and then running that back to our Eyemax DVR systems COM port 1. I tried making a Y splitter myself but so far it was unsuccessful. Any thoughts or suggestions???? postaleyes 0 Posted March 5, 2012 A serial split (9 pin) should work unless it has 25 pins! Does the back of the printer have an RS232 Com port?
johnmiod 0 Posted March 6, 2012 The receipt printer connects to ruby pos using a cat5 cable. I need to split the cat5 cable. So one leg goes to the printer and the other leg goes to the eyemax dvr .
postaleyes 0 Posted March 6, 2012 I suggest using a Cat5 splitter. Connect it to the back of the printer, have 1 line going to the POS and the other going to the DVR.
