Cannot figure out Menu OSD control of a CNB

I have a CNB VCB-24VF dome that supports OSD menu via RS-485 (Pelco D)

 

I also purchased an Aver EH1004H Nano DVR - and hoped to control the menu/settings via the DVR, which supports Pelco-D.

 

I connected a wire pair from a CAT-5E cable as follows:

 

DVR Tx+ -> Camera RS485 +

DVR Tx- -> Camera RS485 -

 

I checked & matched the camera ID and baud rates.

 

However, I cannot get the DVR to tigger or control the camera.

 

I also attempted to send commands to it via an RS-485/422 converted hooked to a serial port of my PC. Again no joy.

The camera has been checked by CNB and is good.

The DVR appears to be sending valid commands (via monitoring on the serial port)

 

I don't know what else to try - but it's driving me nuts! This should be working!

 

Any help would be appreciated.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get VCM-24VFs with RS-485 but have never been able to source them. I do have a DBB-34VF with the RS-485 connections, so I can test this a bit later tonight...
