school security 0 Posted March 15, 2012 Hey folks, At one of our sites we have an IP110. In the moring the sun comes up and is glaring directly into the camera for the better part of the day. As a result we don't pick up motion during those times. Even after the sun shifts away from the cam we still hardly get motion video. We have another cam about 200 ft from the one in question so we know there is activity in the area. I know Pelco has discontunied the IP110 series but is it possible that the constant sun exposure has fried something in the camera? Thanks
Soundy 1 Posted March 17, 2012 First thing I'd try doing is setting that channel to record constantly, or greatly increasing the motion-detect sensitivity, and see if the glare is simply masking any movement. Does motion record work properly outside of these times? I've seen a couple older IS100 domes cooked from being in direct sunlight all day... so it's always possible. school security 0 Posted March 19, 2012 I've been messing with the motion settings for almost a month now. With some odd results. The only constant is it always records sunrise and set. Now that I think about it we used to have it recording on a DX8100 Hybrid. When we upgraded the system to an NVR running DSNVS we started having problems with all the fixed cams on site. I was able to resolve all but this one...
Chris880 0 Posted March 19, 2012 So the problem didn't exist in the 8100 but now does since you switched to the NVS software? I am a little confused on your question, but sure I can help. As the sun rises, the camera is 100% blinded out? What motion are you trying to capture if the camera is unable to see? -Chris

The problem is after the sun shifts away from the camera, very little motion is being recorded. Bandwith is an issue since we are recording off site. Otherwise I would just let it record full time...
