puckacostello 0 Posted March 21, 2012 Hello, Please be gentle im a completed novice and looking a bit of advice I want to install an IP camera at the rear of my house and want to be able to view it on the laptop and iphone which i know how to do. Now i want to be able to record it to a hard drive. Is this possible to do through the laptop? Or will i need an external DVR ? Any help appreciated Thanks in advance, Shaun
camera-newbie 0 Posted March 22, 2012 Is the laptop going to be used permanently for this purpose (dedicated?) -- if not, you'll likely not record anything (depending on whether your IP camera has on-board storage care of an SD/flash drive) when the laptop is elsewhere.. As long as the laptop is available you can either use the built-in web-browser or use some NVR/VMS software loaded on the laptop -- there are many out there with different features, prices, etc.. Soundy 1 Posted March 22, 2012 Of course, it also depends on the make/model of camera and finding an NVR software that supports it...
