matthompson 0 Posted March 24, 2012 Hi Guys I'm hoping someone can help me from tearing my hair out. I have two cameras (Everfocus HD CCTV). When I try and set them up with a small SD monitor (I've tried three different monitors) all I get is a colour bar signal. Which ever way I click or hold the joystick control it still won't move from colour bars. This is the camera. http://uk.everfocus.com/product.cfm?productid=1640 Anyone help out at all ??? This is killing me !! Many thanks Mat
tomcctv 190 Posted March 24, 2012 Hi. colour bar is right when in test mode. do you have the DVR to go with the cameras. what are you connecting them too.
matthompson 0 Posted March 24, 2012 Hi and thanks for your response. I've connected to a number of different things. A small mini DVR, a field monitor and larage TV. The problem is I can't get anything other than colour bars. I should be able to navigate the menu of the camera and set it up should I not ? Essentially the OSD fly off cable is just an SD out no ? So how do I move on from the colour bars? The cameras are going to be used in a set-up for a TV programme I'm working on. (Going into a high power Mac setup with Black Magic sd-hdi recording)
tomcctv 190 Posted March 24, 2012 Hi. you need a everfocus HD-DVR to view your images ...... it will not work just connected upto a monitor.
matthompson 0 Posted March 24, 2012 Surely its just an SD out ? - It should work on any handheld monitor. It says in the manual its for connection to field monitors for camera set-up. Why should it need to be an Everfocus unit ? Do you know why its just showing bars? Cheers Mat

Cheers Mat to have images from camera onto a standard monitor. where you see the control at rear of camera you will also see a test connection for a monitor. plug in lead. (but this is only to set direction of camera. no settings can be done from it. and you also need to remove the cable to close camera back up. but to get the images you need ... then yes you also need the HD recorder. matthompson 0 Posted March 24, 2012 Thanks for your responses. Yep the joystick at the back and the plug in mini lead is what I'm refering too. It says in the manual all setup can be done through this in SD. Which makes sense for pre-setting the camera before field install !?

matthompson 0 Posted March 24, 2012 Ok...well I can't even see an image through it to do that. Just colour bars ? Mat

You sure about that? I looked up the manual online, and while it doesn't specifically state that OSD is accessed via the service port, it certainly SEEMS to indicate this... the service port and OSD joystick being accessed through the same opening would point to this being the case. It would be borderline useless to have the OSD accessible ONLY via SDI as that would preclude making any adjustments once the camera is installed.
matthompson 0 Posted March 25, 2012 Hi Soundy Indeed ! - The printed manual I have is pretty poor to be honest. It's obviously be translated using an electronic translator but you can just about make sense of it. What is the key question....why am I only getting colour bars ? This is on both cameras. It's just really odd and I'm meant to be fielding the camera today and theres no Everfocus support until tomorrow.
tomcctv 190 Posted March 25, 2012 What is the key question....why am I only getting colour bars ? because your pluging direct into a monitor. (from the coax.) you can only use the monitor outlet (test lead) then into monitor. insert test lead press joystick to right then select PAL or NTSC you are then in test mode. if you want to use the camera only on a HD tv then you will need the HDMI box
matthompson 0 Posted March 25, 2012 Hi Tom I am plugging it into the test monitor via the SD test outlet ? I wouldn't expect it to work from HD-sdi, it's a digital HD signal. Mat
tomcctv 190 Posted March 25, 2012 insert test lead press joystick to right then select PAL or NTSC you are then in test mode. did you get into the test menu. ???
matthompson 0 Posted March 25, 2012 Nope....that's the problem. Its just Colour Bars....however I push/hold the joystick its just bars...that's it ! Mat

matthompson 0 Posted March 26, 2012 Hi guys Ok. I fielded this camera yesterday. I was able to set it up in a very time cosuming way. Putting the camera up, recording the result and then changing the settings by taking it down and going back to the recording station. I did this 4-5 times and got it set up. The menu is available through the HD-sdi feed so I was ok. However i still only get bars on my field monitors through the sd fly off. Another problem is the IR lights on it only throw about 3-4 meters. They are meant to be godo for 50 !!! - I am speaking to everfocus about this. Luckilly I have other IR floods on the set.
