Trying to find support for an older system.

Recommended Posts

Hello, new guy here.

My buddy gave me his CCTV set up he had on his house. I was going to play around with it and sell it for him but now I'm thinking about keeping it for myself. I've searched around and it seems like the DVR is a really obscure brand that doesn't have much online support. I was trying to accomplish doing a firmware update and have zero luck finding anything of the sorts. Everything I google is in greek and is just places selling it. The manufacture website is horrible. I managed to hook upto my TV and put it on my network.

Anyone have an guidance or advice on if a firmware update is even worth doing?

Here are what the labels say:

DVR: Commercial CCTV Product - KDVR 1041 E252776 (150gb hd inside it) (Google shows Qtum as the maker of it)

2 Dome cameras: SVD266NAI-6061206014 (24VAC) (Inside the boards have pink stickers that say NTSC 602 Hi Res - I'm assuming 602 in the lines?)

CRT Monitor (junk, since I'd hook to my TV) Triview TCM-1402S

I can post pictures if it will help at all.

Is this thing a boat anchor or is it worth keeping around? He wants $300 for it all.

From what specs I can find on the DVR, looks like it does 30fps/channel at CIF (360x240) or 15fps/channel at DCIF (720x240) but won't do full D1 at all.

Can't find anything on those cameras...

Aside from the limited resolution, doesn't look like TOO bad a DVR. Dunno that I'd give $300 for it all... $200 *tops*, maybe offer $150.

As you already know, it appears the manufacturer doesn't have much support for their current product, let alone old product. The only available downloads seem to be user manuals for current product. I wouldn't expect to get any updated firmware or viewing software for the system. It is what it is and all it's going to be.

Yeah, that's what I kind of figured. I'd love to have a nice interface for veiwing on a smart phone or remotely. As of right now I just have it hooked up locally on the network and I can remote in to see it but I haven't figured out what to do for a smart phone app.

Maybe I'll not buy it.

If this helps, here is the network viewing from my PC.

It auto assigned it's self an IP, I went the IP on my PC and it had me download a program. It's not too bad, just not awesome.

The camera pointing outside is a cheap cam I picked up this morning while I was at MicroCenter. It was only $24. It's actually not too bad but I also don't know much about these.

It's a Swann Maxi Day/Night Cam. CCD, 420 Lines, 24 Infra-LED, 12mm lens.

I just had a gift card and wanted to use it.
