cgcmgr 0 Posted April 9, 2012 Hi Guys, I'm going to be using a PoE splitter outdoors to feed power and data to my camera. The splitter is an Axis T8126 and I'm concerned about the operating temperatures. This splitter has a range of 32 Degrees F to 104 Degrees F. Unfortunately, being outdoors in upstate NY, temperatures can get into the single digits. Does anyone have any ideas as to keep the device warm? I was thinking of putting the splitter into a box with insulation inside to keep it warm, or wrapping insulation on the outside of the box. I do not know if these splitters are vented or not (don't have it in my possession yet) and don't know if wrapping it in insulation would cause the temperature to rise and then the splitter would overheat. Also, on a hot summer's day temperatures can get in the upper 90's, insulation I'm sure would only make the temperature increase. I can always take the insulation out of the box during the Spring and put it back in the Fall. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, Chris
Soundy 1 Posted April 9, 2012 Electronics generate heat of their own anyway... I wouldn't worry about it at all. Just make sure it's sealed against weather and you should be good.
