jdrake4 0 Posted April 13, 2012 I am looking for a DVR that supports a MJPEG output stream to a HAI Omnitouch 5.7e. Thinking of using analog camera to keep the cost down. 4 camera now may add more later. The DVR will be located in a closet so all viewing must be able to be done with a remote network connection. Any recommendations?
Soundy 1 Posted April 13, 2012 The MJPEG stream will only let you view the DVR - are you hoping to control it from the touchscreen as well? Because I don't see that being possible. If you just need to display video, how about this: http://www.homeauto.com/Products/Surveillance/SurveillanceOverview.asp#87A00-
jdrake4 0 Posted April 13, 2012 I am planning to view only one of the cams from the HAI Omnitouch 5.7e (For when the doorbell rings), to get a quick view of who is at the door. As far as a more in-depth look at events or recordings, or changing the DVR configuration, I plan to do that from a regular PC running Windows 7. We recently had a burglary in our neighborhood, so the ability to record the streams is high on my list now.

Ah, I think the box linked above is probably the best bet, then - almost all DVRs stream H.264 now because that's more efficient for internet viewing. I can't think of any DVRs offhand that I *know* will stream MJPEG...
mike_va 0 Posted April 13, 2012 You might consider a used Axis 241Q ~$200 or Avigilon, although I have no experience with the latter as to streaming MJPEG but 4 channels is priced well although more than $200. Says it does MJPEG but don't know if you need push or what it does.
jdrake4 0 Posted April 14, 2012 I think Everfocus DVR support an mpeg stream out as well as an h.264 stream, any one have any opinions on everfocus?
