Ben W 0 Posted September 15, 2005 Does the Sanyo DSR-3009 use standard IDE hard drives? Can I upgrade an 80GB DSR-3009 to 600GB with off the shelf drives, or do I need to buy Sanyo proprietary drives?
tikitornado 0 Posted September 15, 2005 Answer Yes they are standard IDE drives in the Sanyo DSRs. The Sanyo recorders have 2 drive bays 1 is configured as a Master the Other as a Slave. Make sure if you do this to note which IDE connector the Master drive is connected to first and put the new drives in with the drives jumpered out accordingly. For the Sanyo recorders it is better to stick to 7200RPM drives if you can, they have used Hitachi and Maxtors from what I've seen. If you haven't done so update the firmware from their web site first at www.sanyocctv.com under downloads. One additional advice: If the DVR is still under warranty (Most Sanyo recorders are 3 yrs partrs & labor) upgrading the drives yourself will void the warranty.[/b][/u]
