LittleScoobyMaster 0 Posted April 19, 2012 Hey guys. From the user manual of the SC385, it states: Do not place the camera in locations where the temperature is not within 14 °F to 122 °F. If I kept this camera indoors on a window sill that gets sun all day, would that be too hot for this camera? It would be in an air conditioned room that doesn't get above 80 °F, but with the sun shining on it all day, I'm not sure how hot the camera would actually become. Behind the camera would be white blinds. So the camera would be between the window glass and the blinds with about 1.75 inch clearance on 2 sides of the camera. The other 2 sides would have a foot of clearance on each side. Also, I would add the smoked dome to go over it as well. Would these conditions be too harsh for this camera? I do have other options, but this is the easiest for me. I tried to find a way to monitor the temp of the camera, but I'm not seeing any settings that show the temp. I would think it should have a way to check the temperature it's running at but it doesn't seem too apparent at the moment.
LittleScoobyMaster 0 Posted April 23, 2012 How about a safe operating temp for any cctv cams facing the south sun? I purchased the smoked dome for this camera. Hope it will help with the heat issue a little. I have the option of raising this camera up out of the sun for parts of the day, don't know if I should bother or not though.
