Looking for an IR illuminator for the WV-SC385. Anyone know if it can see 940nm IR ok?

hi. you are just wasting money with illuminator for that camera. and you also need the external housing. (extra)

 

 

940 is only good if you spend the money but for a PTZ you need something like the Raymax or a repeater PT head to match your PTZ with a illuminator fitted.

I think I know what you mean, but wanted to clarify.

 

I know that for the IR portion I would only want to cover a small close to the house 70x50 foot area, not using the PTZ of the camera to expect IR to go any further than that. I was looking at some ~$500 Raytec illuminators for this camera.

 

If I was only using it for this small 70 x 50 foot area, is it still considered a waste for this camera?

 

Just a little confused as to why it would be a waste.

 

The camera would be indoors facing outside going through a window. The illuminator would be outdoors facing the are to be covered.

 

Or. are you thinking that, in order to do IR with this camera, I should really cover a much larger area, say 300 x 200 feet?

 

In which case I would need to purchase something like an $800 Illuminator (higher priced Raytec).
